Domain Awareness and Water Transportation Orientation

CMA’s 1st Maritime Domain Awareness and Water Transportation Orientation, Training and Certification Programme for The Elites took place at the Hotel de Home, Ugbesia Way, Ubiaja, Edo State of Nigeria from the 21st to 22nd February, 2022, having Hon. Peter EGUELE, former Chairman, Esan South-East LGA of Edo State of Nigeria as Special Guest of Honour.


Mr. Lawrence ODIASE, a security expert and consultant to the Edo State Government was our Guest Of Honour. Other Guests included Mr. Patrick OKOSODO, a former Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Esan South East LGA, Ubiaja, and Mr. Fred AREKE, a political chieftain.
The 1st Maritime Domain Awareness programme had retired Rear Admiral G.S.A. OMBO, OON; FCMAN; as Lead Speaker. Other Speakers included Egnr. Matthew ALALADE, immediate-past National President, Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers And Water Transport Senior Staff Association.

Apart from being the Chief Host, Dr. Musa AKINYEMI was also a Guest Speaker at the maiden programme that paraded innovative and researchable papers like, “Inland Water-Ways Terminals Development And Improvement Of Ports And Water Transport In Nigeria”; “Creation, Classification And Functions Of Efficient Ports”; etc.


In his Welcome Speech, the Rector, Dr. Musa AKINYEMI had informed the Elites that Crown Maritime Academy, CMA was coming to Ubiaja to open-up the town and its environs to the understanding of maritime and water transport potentials there are, and how to tap into same towards the maximization of the socio-economic benefits of coastal shipping and water transport activities for Edo State. A select Committee of the elites was named to drive-home the benefits of the two-day Programme while an implementable Communique was drafted for adoption and progression.
