About Crown Maritime Academy
Inception…
Established on Monday, 3rd of January, 2011, Crown Maritime Academy, CMA from infancy was a Vocational and Technical Education (VTE) institution in Lagos. Moving forward, the Academy applied for formal recognition under the Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN) and was granted Approval with a Certificate on Thursday, 9th of February, 2012 by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment to offer Maritime Transport Management and Training programmes.
Now relating directly with the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) as an Innovation Enterprise Institution, IEI, this Academy has produced the ‘’Best-Graduating Shipping Management Student in Nigeria’’ twice. First in 2017/2018 session when our Cadet Emmanuel Gbizi DANIEL from Nasarawa State won the Prize; and, in 2018/2019 session when our Cadet Oluwasegun Isaac LAWAL from Ekiti State won it.

RECOGNITION Our Academy was recognized as a Centre of Academic Excellence by the Commonwealth Education Partnerships (CEP) of London, and Published (on page 201) in the 2014/2015 Commonwealth Education Ministers Publication, side-by-side with the Covenant University and the Redeemer’s University, amongst other renown institutions from the then 54 countries of the commonwealth of nations.
MILESTONE
Also, in 2020/2021, the Academy produced the “Best-Graduated Transport and Logistics Management Student in Nigeria” which Award was received at the Annual Nigerian Maritime Students and Youth (AMSAY) Conference held on 27th May, 2022 at the Rock View Hotel, Park Lane, Apapa, Lagos.
CMA Chapel
We coasted into the port and secured a berth there-at by faith. She set sale by faith and by same has she survived and been sustained. CMA is a faith-based higher institution of learning holding-on to God so fervently as the Alpha and Omega of all that we need to exist and succeed.
- One good turn deserves another. It’s only fools that say there is no God. The Lord God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob exists in Crown Maritime Academy, CMA and, He is worthy of our adoration, including at a place, holy, dedicated to His worship, the CMA Chapel.
- As many as are present and resident at the CMA academic community are, of necessity, to worship God with us in spirit and in truth. Of course, “righteousness exalts a nation, sin is a reproach unto any people”. Our own God hears, heals and honours us with proofs, evidences and tangible testimonies!!!
The management, staff and students of the Academy meet twice a week (on Sundays for 2 hours, which was reduced to 1 hour only due to COVID-19 pandemic); and (on Wednesdays for 1 hour, reduced to 30 minutes only in observance of the pandemic protocols). ‘Education is incomplete without the knowledge of God’, M.A.G. Akinyemi, CMA Chapel’s Chaplain-General could re-iterate. ‘Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind’. We implore you not only to join us in worship but also to give ONLY a widow’s mite as a seed of faith sown to spread the word (which is the wisdom) of God to rid our youths and communities of lawlessness.
